What a way to end the year with an amazing wedding! Diane and Dennis held their wedding ceremony at the magnificent Saint Andrews Catholic Church in Pasadena, followed by an elegant reception at The Westin Pasadena. Tim and I arrived early to catch Diane and Dennis while they were still getting ready, and both just could not wait to be married. When Dennis caught the first glimpse of Diane walking down the aisle, he was immediately in tears.

Diane’s Vera Wang gown came with this incredibly long veil.
I also met a couple of Kung Fu masters!

We had literally just a few minutes at the Pasadena City Hall before we started losing light. But we managed to pull of some great shots featuring the historic landmark.

And of course I found a piano…

A HUGE Congratulations to Diane and Dennis!

I’m back in Orange County, CA house hunting. The area I’m looking at wraps around the future Great Park in Irvine. (This is also the site of my future dream home). As I drove around I noticed the Great Park Balloon overhead. I’ve been meaning to go up in it months ago but just never had the chance to. Well, here’s my chance! All it took was a little detour. So I finally got to get in it and I’m glad I had my camera with me. Check it out!

They estimate that it’s gonna take about 3 years to remove the over 500 acres of runway concrete. The neat part about it is that they will keep one of the main strips that will be incorporated into the park. The image you’re looking at below will soon be history. Literally.

I just purchased Corel Painter version X and I’m loving what it can do! It’s been a very long time since I picked up a pencil or brush, and I’ll probably never have the same skills as I had when I was illustrating and working in animation. Corel allows me to paint without having to dig up my art supplies. It’s a heck of a lot cleaner too. I’m using an old Wacom II tablet, and I find it strange to be scribbling on a tablet while looking at the monitor. I’ll just have to get used to that part. Here’s my first attempt at using Painter:

I’m glad that Cindy and Henry wanted to do their engagement photo session back at Oldtown Pomona. I haven’t been back here in a while and it’s always a blast to walk around because there are so many cool places to be discovered. We found a few spots that gave us some colorful backgrounds. Cindy and Henry were naturally romantic and were game for almost anything which allows me to get creative. Here’s a few of my favorites:

Simeon waited anxiously for Betty to come meet him for the first time on their wedding day. She was in the elevator on her way up. As the door opened, Simeon inched closer, and Betty slowly emerged toward him. I truly love capturing moments like this as they naturally fell into an intimate embrace. Their ceremony was held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fullerton, followed by the reception at Summit House.

I had the pleasure of shooting Lani and Todd’s wedding at the historic Mission Inn in Riverside, CA. Surrounded by Spanish architecture, the Mission Inn was once a monastery and it gave a glimpse of what Early California looked like in the days of the settlers. In here you’ll encounter lush gardens, a maze of ornate structures, antique furnitures, amazing architecture, and unique sites. Around every corner is something fascinating.
My talented second shooter (Neil Rosales) and I scouted the grounds and were continuously awed by all the photo opps. Everywhere seemed like an ideal place for a photo shoot. I’m so glad that Lani and Todd allowed me to schedule a “first meeting” photo session. This gave us the chance to capture some very nice, romantic, timeless images of them within the famous Mission Inn.

The rotunda is one of my favorite spots!
